Oriveda's focus is on selling well-researched medicinal mushroom extracts of superior quality. The composition of the extracts and the dosage recommendations are in line with the existing research, not 'made up'.

Our business is based on common sense and pragmatism. We feel that every claim of quality should be backed up with facts.

Every batch of our products is tested for both safety (heavy metals) and active ingredients. We use objective ISO 17025 certified laboratories.

You don't have to take our word for it when we claim premium quality - you can verify it. We introduced the concept of objective lab testing in 2010. We are still one of the very few vendors that share actual lab test reports with our customers. No deceiving home-made 'certificates of analysis', no conflicts of interest ('in-house testing' haha).

For some bullet-points just click here.

• Therapeutically speaking, ORIVeDA extracts are the most powerful extracts available worldwide, with guaranteed levels of the most important bioactive components and the highest bioavailability possible. And this is not just a marketing statement.

• Our authorized supplement facts labels and Google make it easy to compare our products with others. As said, our Certificates of Analysis from independent third party laboratories are available here.

• Since we started as a business we have always emphasized the use of extracts, being the only reliable way to accomplish therapeutic effects.

• Already in 2012 we started specifying beta-glucans (the main active ingredient of most medicinal mushrooms) on our supplement fact labels. This was a time when 95 % of mushroom supplements had zero specifications (not being extracted) and the rest mentioned 'polysaccharides' at best, a broad term covering a lot of non-bioactive compounds, in the core unsuitable as a quality marker. Currently beta-glucans are widely accepted as a quality marker, using an AOAC-validated test method.

• We are the first ones specifiying cordycepin as a quality marker for Cordyceps and the first and the only ones to specify the ganoderic acids that are the trademark of Reishi. In short, we have set and pointed out quality standards since we started.

Our approach makes it easy for consumers to choose the right product and they're less likely to be deceived by marketing tricks. Check our FAQ for additional details.

• The value-for-money you get with our products is excellent. Not only are our prices often lower than others, but the level of bioavailable active ingredients in our extracts is usually much higher, in some instances over three times higher than the best of the rest. So, instead of spending $ 90 on “product X” you only have to spend $ 30 on our product for the same therapeutic potential.
And on top of that, as said before, we guarantee the bioavailability of the bioactives; your body can absorb and digest them 100%, so the therapeutic potential is maximal. And all these claims are supported by objective third party test results.

• In SE-Asia medicinal mushrooms have been used for many centuries. These countries therefore contain probably the best-informed and most critical consumers. We are proud to be able to claim that we are currently the only Western company selling mushroom extracts on a large scale to this region.
• A lot of the research on which our products' reputation is built is available and can be downloaded for free from the resources-section of our site.

• We ship directly (or indirectly - using local distributors) to almost all countries in the world, except warzones.

• We offer maximum personal service: we are online 7 days a week and your questions will be answered in great detail. Those questions are important: they help us develop new ideas and products. Keep them coming!

  • A B M

The quality marker for hot water extracted Agaricus blazei Murrill (ABM) is beta-glucan. ABM extract should be based on the fruiting body of the mushroom.

    TEST REPORTS
  • C C C E

The quality markers for CCCE® are beta-glucan, adenosine and cordycepin. Three different types of bioactive beta-glucan are combined in this formula, all extracted from the fruiting body of the specific mushrooms. The cordycepin and adenosine is from Cordyceps militaris fruiting bodies.

    TEST REPORTS
  • C H A G A

The main quality markers for Chaga are beta-glucan, polyphenols (anti-oxidants) and triterpenes (i.p. betulinic acid).

A Chaga extract should ideally be dual extracted and based on the wild-harvested sclerotia of this mushroom. Never cultivated Chaga ! (which is beige instead of dark-brown/black).

  • C O R D Y C E P S  C+

The main quality markers for Cordyceps are adenosine and cordycepin. NOT 'cordycepic acid'! This is just a common type of sugar (aka D-Mannitol). It is found in many plants.
Beta-glucan is important, but it is not Cordyceps-specific and it is not responsible for the Cordyceps-specific properties.

The extract should be based on deep layer* cultivated mycelium (Cordyceps sinensis CS-4) and / or Cordyceps militaris fruiting bodies.

*"deep layer cultivated" means "cultivated in liquid" as opposed to rice/grains. The advantage is that there is no left-over substrate in the final product, it is pure mycelium, starch-free. This method is only used in Asia.

  • MAITAKE  G R I F O L A N

The main quality marker for hot water extracted Maitake is beta-glucan.
Maitake contains a unique type of beta-glucan. In line with the research a Maitake extract should be based on the fruiting body of the mushroom.

Lion's Mane covers two therapeutic spectra.

Hot water extracts are very useful for general health and the metabolic system. The main quality marker is beta-glucan and the extract should be based on the fruiting body. 1:1 extracts are unfiltered and will also contain the alcohol-soluble compounds, making them also relevant for basic nootropic use. The extract color is tan.

Alcohol extracts are very useful for nootropic effects (slowing down the effects of age on cognition and improving the production of NGF / BDNF). The main quality markers are erinacines* and hericenones* (these compounds belong to the group of terpenes) and polyphenols. The deep layer** cultivated mycelia are the main source of terpenes (4 - 8 times more than the fruiting body). An alcohol extract is almost black and smells like dark chocolate.

*Hericenones and erinacines can be measured using HPLC-UV-ESI/MS, which is the same method used to isolate and discover those compounds. This method is described in the research papers in detail.

**"deep layer cultivated" means "cultivated in liquid" as opposed to rice/grains. The advantage is that there is no left-over substrate in the final product, it is pure mycelium, starch-free. This method is only used in Asia.

  • TURKEY TAIL   P S P - 5 0

The quality marker for hot water extracted Turkey Tail is beta-glucan.

Turkey Tail contains two types of beta-glucan, which are in part linked to peptides to form bioactive glyco-proteins / proteoglycans. To be in line with the research a Turkey Tail extract should preferably be based on a specific deep layer* cultivated mycelium strain (COV-1) of the mushroom.

*"deep layer cultivated" means "cultivated in liquid" as opposed to rice/grains. The advantage is that there is no left-over substrate in the final product, it is pure mycelium, starch-free. This method is only used in Asia.

  • R E I S H I  P R I M O

The quality markers for Reishi are beta-glucan and in particular ganoderic acids (a type of triterpenes). Reishi should always be dual extracted (otherwise no ganoderic acids will be present) and the extract should be based on the fruiting body.
Reishi beta-glucan is in part linked to peptides to form bioactive glyco-proteins / proteoglycans. These are highly bioactive. There is no accepted way to measure these so we can't specify them.

Oriveda is currently the only vendor specifying the unique Reishi ganoderic acids, using an ISO 17025 accredited test method / laboratory to ensure the numbers are 100% accurate. We used to specify 'triterpenes' like everybody else, but we dropped this in 2021 in favor of the more accurate specification. The product itself has not changed.
Vendors specifying just 'triterpenes' rely on an inaccurate test method (HPLC/UV-VIS). UV-VIS will always return a way too high percentage; making it popular among vendors. The margin of error is ± 50-70% with this method. Our "≥ 6% triterpenes" turned out to be in fact ± 2%, which is 100% accurate. Something to keep in mind when you compare our specs to others.

  • S H I L A J I T  •  M U M I J O

The main quality markers for Shilajit are humic and fulvic acids.
A globally accepted standard has been developed to quantify these compounds (AOAC-validated). There are other methods which yield high percentages but these are not scientific nor accurate.
